The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State, Dr. Gbemileke Alagbe, popularly known as Eleniyan, has fulfilled his promise to support victims of the recent fire incident at Oranyan Market in Ibadan.
As part of efforts to ease the hardship faced by the affected traders, Alagbe provided planks worth millions of naira to support the reconstruction of shops destroyed by the fire.
The materials were presented to the affected traders on his behalf by Hon. Princess Oluwaseun Dosunmu, ADC candidate for the Oyo State House of Assembly, Ibadan North-East Constituency 2.
Dosunmu was accompanied during the presentation by Baba Laje Abidikugu. They met with the Iyaloja, Vice Iyaloja, Secretary and other members of the market to formally present the materials and discuss the traders' needs.
The market chairman was unavailable at the time of the presentation but was duly represented by the Vice Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim.
Speaking with the market leadership and traders, the ADC representatives reiterated that the intervention was aimed at reducing the burden on those whose businesses and livelihoods were affected by the fire outbreak.
It was also disclosed that another set of building materials would be delivered to the affected traders, as part of the continued fulfilment of the promise made by Dr. Alagbe during his earlier visit to the market.
Dosunmu Commends Alagbe's Benevolence
Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Princess Oluwaseun Dosunmu emphasised what she described as the genuine benevolence and concern of Dr. Gbemileke Alagbe towards the people of Oyo State.
She said the intervention demonstrated Alagbe's commitment to supporting residents, particularly people facing difficult circumstances.
According to her, the gesture was only a demonstration of what the ADC governorship candidate could offer in terms of people-oriented leadership if elected as Governor of Oyo State.
Dosunmu maintained that the ADC is committed to improving the welfare of the people and creating a government that prioritises the needs of ordinary residents.
She further assured the traders that the party would continue to identify with them and support initiatives aimed at improving their livelihoods.
The affected traders expressed appreciation for the intervention, describing the donation as timely support towards rebuilding their businesses after the devastating fire incident.
The presentation marked the fulfilment of Alagbe's earlier commitment to assist the victims with materials for the reconstruction of their shops.
