Kidnapped CAC Worshippers Regain Freedom in Ekiti as Police Intensify Hunt for Abductors

The Ekiti State Police Command has confirmed the successful rescue of worshippers who were abducted during an attack on the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eda-Oniyo, in Ekiti State.

The victims were kidnapped on April 28 while attending a church programme but regained their freedom following sustained intelligence-led operations carried out by the Nigeria Police Force in collaboration with the Nigerian military, other security agencies, the Amotekun Corps, local hunters, and the Ekiti State Government.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, the Command disclosed that all rescued victims have been taken to a hospital for medical examination and treatment to assess their health condition and ensure they receive adequate medical care.

Commending the successful operation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Falade Adegoroye Michael, praised the dedication, professionalism, and synergy among all security agencies and stakeholders whose joint efforts led to the safe rescue of the victims.

The Police Commissioner also appreciated the unwavering support of the Ekiti State Government, under the leadership of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, describing the administration's commitment to security as instrumental to the success of the rescue mission.

He further thanked residents of the state for their vigilance and timely provision of credible information, urging members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by reporting suspicious movements and activities.

Meanwhile, the Police Command assured that efforts have been intensified to apprehend those responsible for the abduction and bring them to justice, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Ekiti State.
