The Federal Ministry of Education has released the final list of Ranked and Approved Textbooks for use in Nigerian schools for the 2026–2028 period, following the completion of the first phase of the national textbook ranking exercise.
The exercise was conducted under the guidance and leadership of the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, and the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, with the final list approved by the Minister of Education.
According to the Ministry, the process took additional time due to the generation and assignment of unique codes to each ranked textbook, a step introduced to enhance identification, tracking and validation of the approved titles.
The Ministry said the textbook ranking exercise is being implemented in phases, with the latest release covering the titles approved under the first phase.
It urged publishers, schools, education authorities, procurement agencies and other relevant stakeholders to consult the official approved list when selecting and procuring textbooks for the affected classes.
The Federal Ministry of Education further encouraged all stakeholders to strictly adhere to the approved list in the provision and use of textbooks for the specified classes.
The complete 2026–2028 Ranked and Approved Textbooks, including the Ranking/QR Tracking Code assigned to each approved title, is available through the official link provided by the Ministry.
Publishers, schools and other stakeholders are advised to verify textbook titles against the official list before procurement or use.
