Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have intercepted a truck allegedly transporting military camouflage materials and suspected illicit drugs along the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos State.
The operation, which was reportedly carried out following a credible tip-off, led to the arrest of four suspects believed to be connected to the consignment.
Sources disclosed that the truck was heading towards the eastern part of the country when it was stopped and searched by security operatives.
During the search, police officers reportedly discovered a quantity of military camouflage items alongside substances suspected to be illegal drugs concealed within the vehicle.
The four occupants of the truck were immediately taken into custody for questioning, while the recovered items were seized as exhibits pending further investigation.
Security sources said preliminary investigations are ongoing to determine the origin and intended destination of the recovered materials, as well as establish whether the suspects are linked to any criminal network.
The interception has raised concerns over the illegal movement of restricted military items and suspected narcotics across the country.
Police authorities have assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted to uncover all those involved and bring perpetrators to justice.
The suspects are expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations if found culpable.
Further details are expected to emerge as security agencies continue their inquiries into the matter.
