The Oyo State Police Command has paraded five suspects arrested in connection with the recovery of firearms and other incriminating items from a building recently demolished by the state government in Ibadan.
The suspects were presented to journalists as police authorities intensified efforts to apprehend the principal suspects believed to be linked to the alleged criminal activities uncovered at the property.
The building, located in Ibadan and reportedly linked to a former member of the Park Management System (PMS), Surajudeen Adio, popularly known as Suri Ilupeju, was demolished on June 16, 2026, following a security operation prompted by a petition submitted to law enforcement authorities.
According to the police, the raid led to the discovery of firearms and other suspicious items believed to have been concealed within the premises. Investigators also reportedly recovered photographs of the fugitive suspect from the building.
Although Adio remains at large, the police disclosed that he is currently under investigation for alleged criminal activities, including a reported threat to shoot an individual who subsequently petitioned security agencies, leading to the operation.
Speaking on the development, police authorities said the arrested suspects claimed they had visited Adio's residence to seek financial assistance and denied involvement in any criminal enterprise.
However, the Command noted that investigations were still ongoing to determine the extent of each suspect's involvement and to establish possible links to the recovered weapons and other exhibits.
The police assured residents that efforts were being intensified to track down and arrest all individuals connected to the case, including the principal suspect who remains on the run.
Authorities also reiterated their commitment to combating criminal activities across Oyo State and urged members of the public to continue providing useful information that could assist security agencies in maintaining peace and public safety.
The Command added that further updates would be provided as investigations progress and more facts emerge regarding the circumstances surrounding the recovered firearms and the demolished property.
