Oyo Government Imposes 16-Hours Curfew in 10 LGAs

The Oyo State Government has announced a 16-hour curfew across 10 local government areas bordering the Old Oyo National Park as part of efforts to strengthen security and maintain peace in the affected communities.

The approval was granted by the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and was conveyed through a memo issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Musibau Babatunde.

According to the statement, the curfew will take effect from Wednesday, June 24, 2026, and will initially remain in force for 48 hours.

The curfew will run daily from 4:00 PM to 8:00 AM, restricting movement within the affected areas during the specified hours.

Affected Local Government Areas

The 10 local government areas affected by the curfew are:

  1. Oriire Local Government (Headquarters: Ikoyi-Ile)
  2. Orelope Local Government (Headquarters: Igboho)
  3. Irepo Local Government (Headquarters: Kisi)
  4. Saki West Local Government (Headquarters: Saki)
  5. Saki East Local Government (Headquarters: Ago-Amodu)
  6. Atisbo Local Government (Headquarters: Tede/Ago-Are)
  7. Itesiwaju Local Government (Headquarters: Otu)
  8. Iseyin Local Government (Headquarters: Iseyin)
  9. Olorunsogo Local Government (Headquarters: Igbeti)
  10. Atiba Local Government (Headquarters: Offa-Meta, Oyo)

The state government urged residents of the affected local government areas to comply fully with the directive and cooperate with security agencies as efforts continue to ensure the safety of lives and property.

Authorities are expected to review the situation after the initial 48-hour period and provide further updates as necessary.
