Alhaji Taiwo Hassan, fondly known as Ogogo, was more than an actor. He was one of the faces that helped shape and popularise Yoruba Nollywood.
From his early days in theatre to becoming one of the most recognisable actors in the Nigerian film industry, Ogogo gave us unforgettable movies, characters, expressions and memories that will remain with generations.
For many of us, his movies were part of our childhood. We watched them with our parents, laughed at his comic scenes, feared some of his characters and sometimes repeated his famous lines.
That is why this one hurts.
A man whose face and voice became familiar to millions has now taken his final bow.
Whenever we watch his old films, his voice will still sound familiar, his performances will still make us smile, and the memories will come rushing back.
But the man himself will be deeply missed.
Ogogo, thank you for the memories. Thank you for the entertainment, the laughter and your contribution to Yoruba cinema.
