The Federal Government is set to officially flag off the dualisation of the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road on Monday, August 24, 2026, in a major move aimed at improving road infrastructure and strengthening connectivity between Oyo and Ogun States.
The flag-off ceremony, organised by the Federal Ministry of Works, is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at the Open Field of Legacy Estate, along Idi Ayunre on the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road, Oyo State.
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) recently approved the award of the contract for the dualisation project to JRB Construction Limited.
According to the Federal Ministry of Works, the project is part of the Federal Government's Renewed Hope Agenda, designed to improve the travel experience for motorists, strengthen transportation infrastructure and promote economic growth within the region.
The Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road is a strategic transport corridor linking communities across Oyo and Ogun States and serves as an important route for the movement of people, agricultural produce and goods.
The dualisation project is therefore expected to improve road safety, reduce traffic congestion and enhance the ease of movement between the two states when completed.
The flag-off ceremony is expected to attract government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, stakeholders and other residents who have long looked forward to improved infrastructure along the corridor.
