Alabi, who was the Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland, reportedly passed away on Saturday morning in Lagos at the age of 76.
His death was confirmed in a statement issued by the Media Aide to the
Olubadan of Ibadanland, Adeola Oloko.
A highly respected figure in journalism, public communication, and public service, Alhaji Alabi served with distinction as Press Secretary to former governors of Oyo State, earning widespread admiration for his professionalism, dedication, and contributions to the media industry.
Beyond journalism, he played a significant role in the traditional institution of Ibadanland as the Abese Olubadan, contributing immensely to the preservation and promotion of the city's rich cultural heritage.
According to family sources, the late elder statesman will be laid to rest on Sunday in accordance with Islamic rites.
His passing has been described as a great loss to the journalism profession, the people of Oyo State, and the traditional institution of Ibadanland.
Further details regarding his burial and funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family.
